Hoopla Napa Valley Chardonnay

The History

Hoopes Vineyard is located in the southernmost part of Oakville, where Yount Mill Road divides the Oakville and Yountville sub-appellations of Napa Valley. The vineyard grows vigorously. Nestled against a hill, and sitting firmly in the flood zone of the Napa River, Hoopes Vineyard has uniquely diverse and fertile alluvial soils despite the small 10-acre size. Farmed and picked by hand, the unique Hoopes fruit receives the highest attention throughout the entire grape growing process. The vineyard produces some of the best cabernet in the valley due to the unique site, clone, and soil combination.

Tasting note

A harvest with no rain in sight and mild temperatures allowed us to pick the vineyard in two sections over a two week period naturally balancing refreshing citrus and apple notes of the earlier pick with more ripe pineapple and tropical fruits of the second. The proof is in the glass, a just right combination of heady fruit aromas, balanced, refreshing flavors and luscious finish.
