Hoopes Family Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

The History

Hoopes Vineyard is located in the southernmost part of Oakville, where Yount Mill Road divides the Oakville and Yountville sub-appellations of Napa Valley. The vineyard grows vigorously. Nestled against a hill, and sitting firmly in the flood zone of the Napa River, Hoopes Vineyard has uniquely diverse and fertile alluvial soils despite the small 10-acre size. Farmed and picked by hand, the unique Hoopes fruit receives the highest attention throughout the entire grape growing process. The vineyard produces some of the best cabernet in the valley due to the unique site, clone, and soil combination.

The grape

98 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Merlot

Tasting note

This wine, born out of our curiosity, has matured into a stunning wine which over-delivers for the price on intensity and richness. On the nose it presents with sweet and floral elements. It reminds me of raspberry violet candies, sweet cherries, and delicate rosewater. On the mouthfeel, the wine is lush and generous, with a hint of sweetness and a full, but supple, texture. It’s finish is focused and lengthy with an acidity that creates an integrated finish.
