Fritz Windish Riesling Spatlese
The History
Nierstein is a famous wine-growing town in Rheinhessen, Germany. It sits on the banks of the Rhine river between Mainz and Worms, to the north-west of Oppenheim. This area is the second-largest wine-growing center in Rheinhessen, with 1935 acres (783ha) planted in vines. Of these, the vast majority are white wine varieties, with Riesling dominating the best sites.
German wine styles are defined by law. Each style of wine must have a minimum must weight, which is determined at the time the grapes are picked. In Germany, must weight is described in Oechsle degrees. The riper the grape, the higher the degrees Oechsle, and the higher the final alcohol content of the wine.
The Grape
Riesling is the traditional, fine and best known grape variety in Germany . It becomes very famous in the world and in America too.
